Education: With Emanuel Vidović (Split 1915); with Vladimir Becić ( Zagreb, 1924-1925) The Royal College of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb (1917-1921)

Biography: She spent her childhood in Kotor, where she graduated from the Commercial College, and continued her arts education in Zagreb. She married the actor Dubravko Dujšin (1894-1947) in 1920. She supported herself through the restoration of paintings. In 1952 she married the politician Ivan Ribar. She left her flat at 3 Demetrova street to the City of Zagreb in 1969 (together with the library, family collection and her own paintings), and in 1978 donated her works to her home town of Trogir, where a new gallery Cata Dujšin Ribar was established in the Trogir Town Museum. She also published collections of poems: Rastanci bez rastanka (Partings without Parting), 1971, Iz kamene jeke (From the Stone Echo) 1975, (including the poem "Noć tamna je moja" – "Dark is my night", which she wrote in 1960) , and Lirika (Lyrics), 1983. She was a presence within Croatian cultural and public life for almost a century. |
